Fernando Botero is one of the world’s greatest living artists. This Colombian icon actually trained to be a matador before dedicating his life to art. Botero really began developing his style in the late 1950’s when he studied under Diego Rivera. His fascination with proportion and size is what defines him as an artist. The “chubbiness” of his subjects gives his work a great deal of depth. I feel like every Botero piece has a great story behind it. His style is what truly brings these stories to life.
